The Summer Solstice Jazz Festival is a FREE-to-the-community festival that simultaneously salutes jazz music, while celebrating the Summer Solstice. It is brought to the area by a partnership between the City of East Lansing, Wharton Center for Performing Arts and the MSU College of Music.

The festival, located in the heart of downtown East Lansing (Lot 1), provides seating underneath the large festival tent. However, many festival goers bring their own chairs and enjoy the open space surrounding the festival tent. All City of East Lansing parking garages will be open. [Location Information]

 

JAZZ-TASTIC PUB PARTY @ Dublin Square to raise funds for festival

Help raise funds for the 13th Annual Summer Solstice Jazz Festival at this fantastically fun benefit featuring the Neil Gordon Trio on Wednesday, June 17 from 5-8 p.m. at Dublin Square Irish Pub! Dublin Square will graciously donate 10 percent of its evening proceeds to the 13th Annual Summer Solstice Jazz Festival.

The 2009 Summer Solstice Jazz Festival will boast a high-caliber ensemble of local and national jazz performers including CMS Jazz Orchestra, Carl Cafagna, Linda Abar, Neil Gordon, Los Gatos, Esperanza Spalding, Arlene McDaniel, Diego Rivera, Organissimo, Rodney Whitaker, Carl Allen, Shahidah Nurullah and many others. Thank you for "Waking Up to Jazz"

Thank you to all those that attended the first annual Wake Up to Jazz fundraiser on Sunday, April 19 at the MSU Federal Credit Union's new headquarters. A special musical performance by MSU Jazz Orchestra I with Rodney Whitaker and Louisiana-style cuisine by East Lansing's Gumbo & Jazz Restaurant were part of the celebration.
